Milan Design Week - chosen for you
CORQUE DESIGN, a Portuguese design brand, pioneer on high-end cork furniture and home accessories, celebrates the 3rd anniversary at Milan Design Week. Co-founded by Ana Mestre, a designer and researcher based in Portugal, CORQUE DESIGN creates beautiful and distinctive objects made from one of the country’s most abundant and sustainable resources: Cork. After making its official European debut at Milan Zona Tortona in 2009 and its U.S. debut at a Meatpacking District exhibit in conjunction with NY Design Week in 2010, CORQUE DESIGN’s collection of eco-friendly furniture and home accessories, designed by prestigious and emerging Portuguese talent, is now available on the market.
This year CORQUE Milan´s exhibition focuses on the brand’s latest creation, LAGARTA stool, and is animating the lounge space of MOST SALONE by Tom Dixon, from April 17th - 22th, in the Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Museum, promising to be this year, the highlight event of the Milan Design Week with the newest design trends and innovations.
Cork is a natural, recyclable, non-toxic and renewable material that is extracted, every nine years, from the Sobreiro (cork oak) without the need to cut it down. With an excellent atmospheric CO2 fixing capacity and a transformation process that has very little waste and low usage of resources, cork is one of the world’s finest eco-efficient materials. It is also lightweight, flexible, waterproof and fire-resistant, making it a desirable choice for product design.
