The charm of the creative landscape
For a dip in the world of wine and art, a visit to the Langhe in Piedmont. It is here that you can find the right combination of contemporary art, history and good taste in the Ceretto company. 160 hectares of vineyards and 4 cellars characterized by spaces dedicated to contemporary art and architecture: the cube, the grape, the artist's house and the chapel of Barolo.
The Cube
Located in the upper part of Bricco Rocche in Castiglione Falletto, the project aimed to create an architectural landscape which, being completely transparent, is placed like a sculpture in a unique and breathtaking environment. The Cube is a work of art and modern technology placed marked by a seal of tradition and conservation of a masterpiece of nature, the Barolo. The use of frameless glass, in order not to obstruct the view, allows the complete indulgence of the surrounding landscape. This Bricco winery is currently located in the geographical center of Barolo.
The Grape
Reflects the spirit of Ceretto, delicately balanced between tradition and innovation. The old farmhouse of the Monsordo-Bernardina estate has been integrated with this new space dedicated to wine tasting. An area with a modern design, overlooking the beautiful hills of the Langhe. A light architecture, totally transparent, which blends harmoniously into the surrounding environment, a large oval bubble suspended in the vineyards to represent a grape.
The Artist’s House
In the vineyards of the Monsordo Bernardina Estate, the Artist’s House is a modern warehouse studio built by restoring an ancient farmhouse. The interior, very linear to blend with the surrounding landscape, features a four-poster bed designed by the artist Anselm Kiefer. The Artist’s House is the perfect place to invite artists from all over the world to spend some time in the Langhe, to get to know it and be inspired, as what happened to international famous artists.
The Chapel of Barolo
Built in 1914 as a shelter for those who worked in the surrounding vineyards in case of storms or hail, and never consecrated, the Chapel of SS. Our Lady of Grace was purchased by the Ceretto family in 1970 along with 6 hectares of prestigious vineyards of Brunate. In ruins after years of neglect, it has become one of the best-known buildings in the area thanks to the re-interpretation given by artists Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett. They split the work between themselves, Tremlett worked on the interior, warm and serene, and LeWitt worked on the exterior, playful and lively. A true jewel of contemporary art surrounded by vineyards.
The art and architecture that blends with a rich territory and with the wisdom of those who have kept it while maintaining beauty and authenticity. A as Baudelaire said: “One should always be drunk. That's all that matters...But with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you choose. But get drunk.”
